Glenn Bentley lives and works in Chester County, PA. He has combined his lifelong love of both photography and painting in the last ten years. These works are photographs of acrylic emulsion paintings combining “water-staining” with photography. The intricate swirls and whorls on the surface of the gel in the tray are rapidly evolving patterns of the pigment interacting with the surface tension of the medium and the previously added colors. Photography turns out to be the ideal way to capture these evolving images, utilizing a variety studio lighting techniques and digital imaging. The mixture of the medium that “floats” the colors, methods of manipulating the pigment, and photographic techniques are all evolving as well.
