I grew up in Reading, Pa, where our playgrounds were often derelict lots. This influence has allowed me to find beauty and stories in found object and scenarios in the discarded. Wabi-Sabi, the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. In my mixed media paintings, sculpture and photography, I continue to explore this connection to objects and scenes with a past. I have long worked to explore combining various media in my work. My latest series, Abandoned, looks at the connection between our landscape and our society. My curiosity and exploration of surface treatments, has allowed me to discover new ways of creating a narrative on my ceramic pieces and paintings. This work was in response to recent world events and struggling to understand during these trying times. Art has been a means to work out thoughts, issues and life events by sharing my voice.
