Etching is a very mechanical but creative process that mixes line, texture and tone. I have enjoyed etching for the past 30 years, studying at the Abington Art Center and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. My subject matter is primarily the landscape in its many forms: the city, the rural areas and every place in between. I often have people within the landscapes to show how we relate to our surroundings. I have shown in area galleries and I have been involved in many area shows. I am a member of the Society of American Graphic Artists (SAGA), the Boston Printmakers and The Print Center. My work has been purchased by the Fogg Museum, the Boston Public Library, the Ronald McDonald House, Syracuse University, the Free Library of Philadelphia and several local banks, as well as many private collectors. I am very involved with my website at etchinginsights.com. I have found that many interested viewers do not know what is involved in the etching process, and I am using the site as an educational tool. It is certainly an ongoing project and one that I hope is successful.
