Carrie Barcomb's oil paintings are colorful, vibrant, and expressive. She draws inspiration from our natural world and everyday life, and works in all genres from portrait to still-life to her main focus, landscapes. Her landscape subjects vary from the Adirondack Mountains, to coastal Maine, to the countryside of the Brandywine Valley. She loves combining hiking and painting outdoors en plein air, as well as uses painting studies to develop studio work. In painting landscapes she strives to celebrate and honor the grandeur of the outdoors. To capture the idea of wonderment, and to portray a state of awe and respect towards our environment. She finds whether exploring a local farm or the forests of upstate New York, there is always something new to discover in the ever-changing light and color of the seasons. She uses this color and light to create dynamic movement across the canvas, and is drawn to gentle scenes and sweeping views to evoke an expansive, spiritual connection to Nature.
