There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost. Martha Graham There was never a time in my life that I didn't feel the need to be creative. As a young girl I would sew, cook, draw, paint, create. I'm not sure where that desire comes from as neither of my parents were artists. But I do believe it was in my heritage at some point. I am a painter and metalsmith/enamelist. I've been painting on and off since the age of 9. Metalsmithing came much later in my life while a studio arts major in college. I LOVED IT! But setting up a studio was expensive. Fast forward years later and I still LOVE to create, whether it be in metal or in oil paint. I derive much of my inspiration from the world around me. I really like the fact that I'm able to practice a craft that has been around for centuries. History intrigues me and I read a lot of historical novels. I think some of that perspective can be seen in my work. I love working with my hands and figuring out how things work. Contemporary Design and color are important components in the jewelry and paintings that I create. I want to craft heirlooms that can be worn and seen from generation to generation.
