Piece of Mind Mosaics Creating makes me come alive, plain and simple. I just have to do it. I've always been involved with one art form or another, from pottery to watercolor painting but creating mosaics is what I love to do most. I started out with ceramic tiles, moved on to glass which let me do more intricate designs, then rocks (yes, rocks - I was a geologist in a former life) and now I am incorporating ceramic elements in to my mosaics. Nature, the way that light plays off textures and colors, and getting the visions in my head out in the world are what inspire me! A native of the Philadelphia suburbs, I began my career as a mosaic artist 12 years ago studying under Gina Hubler of Design Impact Studios of Miami. I continued honing my skills with award-winning mosaic artist Isaiah Zagar, best known for his brilliantly eclectic Philadelphia's Magic Gardens. Other mosaic artists that I have studied with are Cynthia Fisher, Laura Rendlen, Yulia Hanansen, Guilio Menossi and Rachel Sager. I have taught classes at my home studio, Chester County Night School, Art Partners in Coatesville, Phoenix Village Art Center in Phoenixville, PA, Methacton School District in Eagleville, PA and at Art Fusion 19464 in Pottstown, PA, and have been an artist in residence at Lorane Elementary School near Reading, PA as well at Balsam Mountain Preserve near Asheville, NC. A mosaic violin I created for the Painted Violin Project fundraiser for the Community Music School in Trappe, PA was on display at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, PA and one of my mosaic creations hung next to one by Isaiah Zagar at City Hall in Philadelphia for the Society of American Artists Mosaic exhibit in 2015! My work has been shown in juried art shows: Downingtown Fine Arts Festival 2016, Art in Autumn, Weaverville, NC 2015 and 2016, and Chester County Studio Tour 2016 and 2017. I have exhibited my work at Mala Galleria in Kennett Square, PA, Ivytone Studio in Downingtown, PA, and The Pallette and Page in Elkton, MD.
