amelia Furman

Amelia Furman grew up in rural Central Pennsylvania and pursued a degree in visual art at Indiana Wesleyan University in eastern Indiana. In 2003, Amelia received a BFA in painting, printmaking and illustration. Upon completing her education, she returned to Pennslyvania and settled in the Philadelphia area with her husband, Tim. Ms. Furman has been working as a freelance painter/illustrator and as the in-house artist of a local food market in Swarthmore for several years.

Recently, Amelia has been working in a combination of acrylics and collage and exploring ways to reconnect with her love of communication through visual expressions through forms of nature and architecture. In the last year or so, Amelia has created paintings that retell of her experiences in traveling abroad to Turkey, across the country to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, and around her neighborhood in Delaware County.

Ms. Furman’s work openly shows her sense of exploration and desire for connection. Through her work, she seeks to draw out a person’s emotion and intellect, engaging the whole person by pouring her whole self into each work. Amelia has displayed her work throughout Pennsylvania in traditional and non-traditional venues and her works can be found in many private collections.
